Where to find freebies

SlickDeals.net [Home] – Your Daily Source for the BEST Deals on the Net!
This site is worth checking every few days. It’ll tell you about free magazine subscriptions which are available. Let you know about very inexpensive computer hardware (usually after rebate).
I promise you that you’ll save a lot of money if you visit this site regularly. (Of course, now that you know about these bargains, you might actually end up spending more money…but that’s not my fault.)

Lexar USB Jump Drives

Man. I cannot tell you how handy these little things are. I have been carrying the 256MB version around on my keychain for almost 10months now, and I don’t have enough fingers on my hand to count how many times it’s come in handy.
I’ve used it to transport images from my mom’s computer to my computer.
I’ve used it to backup important files.
I’ve used it when the network was down and I needed to get files from one computer to another.

Configure Apache web servers for user-tracking Cookies

Apache web servers have the innate ability to issue user tracking cookies through a module called mod_usertrack. In order to utilize these tracking cookies, your Apache installation must have mod_usertrack enabled. Standard Apache installations sometimes come with mod_usertrack either compiled into the Apache httpd binary or built into Apache as a Dynamic Shared Object, also referred to as a DSO. Mod_usertrack must exist in either form for Apache to issue cookies.
NetIQ, the people who now own the Webtrends software, have a knowledge base article on:
How do I configure Apache web servers for user-tracking Cookies. It is quite in depth and I’ll report back if/when I get it working.

MythTV Mailing List Archive

As useful as MythTV has been to me straight out of the box, every now and then I need help.
MythTV Mailing List Archives is a great, searchable resource that will answer any of your problems (that other people might have asked before).

That’ll Teach ‘Em

I don’t know if this will ever make to our side of “the pond,” but the BBC has a show called That’ll Teach ‘Em where 30 16-year-olds are put through a re-creation of a 1950s state grammer boarding school.
These students were supposedly the cream of their crop…but the majority of them didn’t succeed that well. They were not used to the exercise (being forced to do cross-country runs), the food “the tapioca pudding and its slimy oscillations”, and the hyperenforcement of rules and regulations.
It almost seems like a perverted from of Survivor!

Keep up with yout TV shows without a TV

I like to watch TV. Some shows that I really like are ‘The West Wing’, ‘Survivor’, ‘The Sopranos’. Sometimes I miss part of an episode, or am not sure if a re-run is one I’ve already seen. I stumbled upon this site, Television Without Pity, which does great recaps of most of the shows I watch regularly.
